This project was to create user interface which manages logistic system properly. And replacing old mainframe systems to modernized software application.

Project scope and goals

- Redesigning legacy system to new modernized application.

- Redesigning the application which is easy to use and high levels of customization and flexibility in ordering of goods.

- Streamlining business processes and cost management through design.

To-be scenario

RESEARCH

Findings

- Delivery or wrong and damaged goods from production plant
- Wrong quantity / missing parts (goods).
- There is no way to reach back shipping instruction creator when something goes wrong in missile of process.
- Too tight timelines to pack the goods.
- Requests from other time zones can not be fulfilled on time.
- Slow and difficult communication.
- External advisor’s intervention was required for dangerous goods (Goods with glass, sharp edged material)

Insights

- Since system didn’t had flexibility to edit the input field, sometimes human error used to happens. User may enter by mistakenly 10 instead of 11.
Which caused in wrong quantity and damaged  goods delivery.

- It would help if material quantity , name, type is mentioned through out the process. From customer request to customer delivery.

- System didn’t had any way to communicate back from whomever the request has come. Also Daimler (even Mercedes)  usually don’t allow personal cell phones at their work stations which might have another reason for communication gap even though person has contact details.

- Having details of who created what would help admin to avoid communication gap.

- Basic few days of training on packaging material would help packagers to avoid the damages  happening while goods in transit.

Business Goals

- Reduce the number of hours spent in de-loading the goods from the vehicle.
- Reduce the time taken to complete each order.
- Reduce the cost spent on each order
- Reduce cost spent on each packaging.
- Increase the returns on packaging waste material.

User Expectation

1)Modern fast working UI

2)Combining old two legacy system's tasks into one U
(All tasks in same UI checking orders, checking material left in ware house)

3)User needed flexibility to Perform actions like edit, delete, Copy the orders in new UI.

Project Goals

1)Replacing client legacy system into new Modernized applications

2)Desktop application for logistic system
